On March 25, the TIME Task Force gathered in Atlanta at the Public Safety Headquarters for its First Quarterly Meeting! These quarterly meetings provide members with the opportunity to network, receive updates, and hear from relevant industry professionals. Thank you to everyone who attended!
This meeting was not short of exciting presenters. Attendees first heard from Marvin Riggins, retired Fire Chief of Macon-Bibb Fire and current TIM Area 4 Analyst, on TIM and TRIP program updates, providing an overview of 2025 program statistics.
After lunch, Joe Schulman of GDOT Communications and a TIME Task Force board member, updated attendees on upcoming campaigns and the impact of sharing safety messages on social media.
Wade Killin of Safety Products Inc. then provided a demonstration of their latest safety products, and attendees were able to ask questions and share their own stories of using certain products out in the field.
Next spoke Sally Sims, the Cherokee County Coroner, on roadway clearance during fatal crash response. This presentation offered responders insight into a coroner’s duties and objectives when a fatality occurs at a crash scene. This kind of inter-agency coordination provides invaluable insight for other crash responders!
Finally, Jason Mobley, Georgia DOT’s State Railroad Crossing Engineer, spoke on incidents around the state involving railroads. It’s not a matter of if but when a responder encounters an incident involving unusual factors, such as train tracks. Spreading awareness is step one to preparing responders for whatever the roads may have in store for them.
Thank you to everyone who spoke and helped make this event possible! We cannot wait to gather again for the Second Quarterly Meeting, which will be held virtually on June 25.
