On Sunday June 3rd, over 100 TIME Task Force members, families and friends responded to the 1st Annual
TIME Social Outing at SunTrust Park. The scene involved a collision between the Atlanta Braves
(ATL) and the Washington Nationals (WAS) which occurred around 1:35 PM. The incident was a major
one, as the Braves and Nationals were locked in a tight race for first place in the MLB Eastern Division
at the time of the collision. Brave TIME first responders battled gridlocked traffic to get to SunTrust
Park, where they were then faced with blazing sun and high temperatures. They soon discovered, however,
that the hottest action was on the field. The timeline of this thrilling game unfolded as follows:
• 1st Markakis singled to right, Albies scored. WAS 0 – ATL 1
• 3rd Turner homered to left on a 0-2 count, Difo scored. WAS 2 – ATL 1
• 7th Swanson homered to left on a 2-0 count. WAS 2 – ATL 2
• 9th Culberson homered to left on a 0-1 count, Swanson scored. WAS 2 – ATL 4
Both the Braves’ tying homer in the 7th inning, and game-winning homer at the bottom of the 9th inning
landed squarely in Homerun Porch, site of the TIME group’s Incident Command Post. Sadly, by the
time the homerun balls arrived, several responders had cleared the stands, seeking to lessen their exposure
to hazardous sunburns. Afterwards, several responders were spotted in shadier areas where
they claim to have been dispatched to recover spilled liquid refreshments.
The After Incident Review for the 1st Annual TIME Social Outing identified both successful practices and
opportunities for improvement. If you have any ideas for the next TIME Social Outing please let us
know. Or better yet, come join the Communications Committee and help organize it!
