Metro Atlanta TRIP Expansion

Georgia DOT has published its Intent to Award recovery zones for the Metro Atlanta TRIP expansion. There are four new recovery zones identified as follows:

I-20 west of Atlanta from Exit 24 west to the Georgia/Alabama state line

RECOVERY ZONE 17 (I-20 West Side – Carroll/Haralson County):

Beginning at the intersection of I-20 and SR 61 (Exit 24) along the western edge of the SR 61 overpass bridge and including all ramps west of that point and continuing west on I-20 to the Georgia/Alabama state line as indicated by roadway signage on both the west and eastbound sides of the highway.

I-75 north of Atlanta from Exit 312 north to the Gordon/Whitfield County line

RECOVERY ZONE 18 (I-75 North – Gordon County):

Beginning on I-75 at the Gordon/Whitfield County line as indicated by roadway signage on both the south and northbound sides of the highway and continuing south on I-75 to the intersection of I-75 and East Highway 53 (Exit 312) along the northern edge of the East Highway 53 overpass bridge and including all ramps on the northern side of that point.

I-85 north of Atlanta from the Gwinnett/Barrow County line north to the Jackson/Banks County line

RECOVERY ZONE 19 (I-85 North Side – Barrow/Jackson County):

Beginning on I-85 at the Gwinnett/Barrow County line as indicated by roadway signage on both the south and northbound sides of the highway and continuing north on I-85 to the bridge over Holder’s Creek as delineated by the northern endpoint of the concrete barrier walls on both the north and southbound sides of the bridge.

RECOVERY ZONE 20 (I-85 North Side – Jackson County):

Beginning on I-85 at the northern end of the bridge over Holder’s Creek as delineated by the northern endpoint of the concrete barrier walls on both the north and southbound sides of the bridge and continuing north on I-85 to the Jackson/Banks County line as indicated by roadway signage on both the south and northbound sides of the highway.

GDOT Notice of Intent to Award

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has concluded its review of applicants for the Towing and Recovery Incentive Program (TRIP) for Metro Atlanta expansion recovery zones 17, 18, 19, and 20. After careful consideration, GDOT has selected the following tow companies:

  • RECOVERY ZONE 17 (I-20 West Side – Carroll/Haralson County): TCR Towing & Recovery, LLC
  • RECOVERY ZONE 18 (I-75 North – Gordon County): Parrish Wrecker Service
  • RECOVERY ZONE 19 (I-85 North Side – Barrow/Jackson County): Specialize Towing and Recovery
  • RECOVERY ZONE 20 (I-85 North Side – Jackson County): Seymour’s Wrecker Service

GDOT anticipates that towing in the expansion recovery zones will begin within ninety (90) days of June 1, 2022.
