Macon TRIP Pre-Registration Notice
Georgia DOT has announced its Intent to Award recovery zones for the Macon TRIP expansion. Four expansion areas have been identified as follows:
Location of Zones
Recovery Zone 21 (I-75):
Beginning on I-75 at the Butts/Lamar County line continuing south to the Monroe/Bibb County line.
AND
Beginning on I-475 at the I-75 interchange and continuing south to the Monroe/Bibb County line.

Recovery Zone 22, (I-75/I-16):
Beginning on I-75 at the Monroe/Bibb County line and continuing south, covering the entire I-75/I-16 interchange, to the intersection of Forsyth St. (Exit 164) along the northern edge of the Forsyth St. overpass bridge and including all ramps north of that point.
AND
Starting at the western beginning point of I-16 and continuing east to the Bibb/Twiggs County line on I-16.

Recovery Zone 23 (I-475):
Beginning on I-475 at the Monroe/Bibb County line and continuing south to Mile Marker 1 on I-475.

Recovery Zone 24, (I-75/I-475):
Beginning at the intersection of I-75 and Forsyth St. along the northern edge of the Forsyth St. overpass bridge and continuing south to the Bibb/Crawford County line on I-75.
AND
Beginning at Mile Marker 1 on I-475 and continuing south to the I-75 interchange, covering the entire interchange.

TRIP Registration Process
Any towing/recovery companies that are interested in participating in TRIP must register and provide all required documents within the allocated time period. Submissions will be accepted electronically beginning on March 16. Note the following schedule:
- Registration period for GDOT’s TRIP Macon Expansion begins March 16
- Registration Deadline: April 16 at 5 PM EST
- Inspections and route assignments: March/April
- Notice of Intent to Award issued following inspection/assignment period
Scoring Criteria
Qualified heavy towing and recovery companies will be assessed using the criteria developed and listed below:
- Number of Operational Sets of Equipment
- Zone Proximity
- Heavy Duty Experience
- Vehicle Storage Facility Features
Only applicable criteria will be used for scoring.
