The TIME Task Force gathered virtually on June 25 for its second quarterly meeting. At this event, attendees heard about program updates, upcoming events, and a presentation from a unique industry safety program!

The meeting began with one of the TIME Task Force Co-Chairs, Georgia State Patrol Captain Ritchie Howard, who opened the meeting and welcomed attendees. Chidi Kalu then shared about the upcoming TIME Task Force Conference, taking place in Columbus, Georgia from October 4–7. Anyone interested in attending, sponsoring, exhibiting, or presenting can learn more on the conference website page or email [email protected]

Next, the Area 3 TIM Analyst, Jeff Cotter, spoke on the latest TIM and TRIP program updates, sharing exciting stats to highlight progress being made around the state in coordinating responders and quickly clearing heavy wrecker incidents. Jeff also shared dates for upcoming TIM Team meetings and TIM training, which can be viewed on the TIME Task Force calendar.

The TIME Task Force Communications Committee liaison shared upcoming safety campaigns that will be shared on the TIME Task Force social media pages in July, August, and September, and reminded the community of the upcoming TIME Task Force Summer Newsletter, which will be published in late July. Want to receive our newsletter and other important updates? Finally, attendees heard from Jim Kelly of the Georgia Department of Public Health on the 55+ Driver Safety Program. This program aims to educate drives over the age of 55 and their families and caretakers on safe driving tips regarding vision, medication, physical condition, and more. Jim specifically shared about the Yellow Dot Program. This program provides recognizable decals that program participants can put on their car or at the front of their home, so responders know to look in their glovebox/center console or on their refrigerator for emergency contact and pertinent medical information should an incident occur. The program is free and voluntary, and has already worked to save lives in Georgia. Jim shared that there are participating communities within the following Georgia counties: Chatham, Chattahoochee, Clarke, Clay, Crisp, Dade, DeKalb, Dooly, Fannin, Filmer, Harris, Liberty, Lumpkin, Macon, Marion, Murray, Muscogee, Pickens, Quitman, Randolph, Schley, Stweart, Sumter, Talbot, Taylor, and Webster. For information on bringing Yellow Dot to your community, send an email to [email protected].

Lastly, the other TIME Task Force Co-Chair, Tyrone McCord III, the HERO Incident Response Unit Manager for GDOT, ended the meeting.

Thank you to everyone to participated and attended! We look forward to seeing you at the TIME Task Force Conference in October, which will take the place of the usual Q3 meeting, and again at the Q4 meeting later in the year.
