Region 12 Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Team Meeting
August 24, 2022 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm EDT
Please join us as we gather as a multi-disciplinary team and work together to enhance responder safety at roadway incidents by reviewing best practices, conducting free training, and sharing experiences. To register, please visit the link at the bottom of the page.
With the rapidly growing Port of Savannah container ship traffic and construction of huge logistics centers near major highway corridors, first responders now face an increasing volume of heavy 30-ton containers moving through their jurisdiction. There is also an ever increasing chance of an accident involving an overturned heavy container, which may have impacted another vehicle with occupant entrapment. Please join us as we bring together technical rescue units from several local fire departments and a Sapp’s Wrecker Service unique 75-ton “Rotator” heavy lift vehicle. A brief overview of initial scene safety, and truck/container challenges will be presented along with GDOT and CHAMP highlighting cable barrier concerns. Afterwards, a practical performance will demonstrate how both fire technical rescue and “Rotator” heavy lift specialists can save lives by reducing the time needed to stabilize and lift a heavy container to extricate victims and help law enforcement to more quickly investigate and re-open the roadways.
Lunch (provided by Sapp’s Wrecker Service) will follow at 11:30 a.m. after the conclusion of the training.
Time: 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Date: Wednesday, August 24, 2022
Location: Sapp’s Wrecker Service,
176 Godley Rd, Port Wentworth, GA 31407
Please register now to assure lunch placement.
